Name: David Smurthwaite

Role? Strategic manager for planning and regeneration at Craven District Council. I am the chairman of the GPLD creative board.

Where is your Great Place within the Lakes and Dales and why? Skipton, especially on a lovely evening.

Who, what or where inspires you? I am a regular Glastonbury goer and I love the feeling of the ability to do anything which live music at a festival inspires. It’s a unique, eurphoric emotion that anything is possible.

What’s your ideal day? Exploring with my family, out in the Dales or Lakes, sharing the experiences with them.

Favourite event or place of interest in the Lakes and Dales? Skipton Puppet Festival and the Langdale valley in the Lake District.

Active or chilled (or both!)? I have a great ability to chill but I love getting out and about and doing things.

Hidden gem? Farnhill Moor, near Skipton.
