At the start of April we kicked off our Nurturing Creatives Micro-Commissions and we’re very excited to be working with such a range of talent and artistic styles!
Our first commission introduction is Jess Aughton:
‘First and foremost, I am a black line illustrator, I use fine liners to create my illustrations. However, I have recently delved into the world of digital art, using Procreate to produce my work. My inspiration comes from the people that I have met over the years whilst travelling.
Instead of following the mainstream education route, instead I spent my time hitching around protest sites and communities across the U.K. living in various dwellings such as vans, benders, buses, treehouses, and caravans. While in these spaces we were away from the confines of technology and used our days creatively: cooking, drawing, and gardening. The people I met over those years have all inspired my illustrations in one way or another: be it, the characters themselves or the ability to draw organically.’
We’re looking forward to working with Jess and watch her project come to life!
